2001 LINCOLN TOWN CAR DEFINES FULL-SIZE COMFORT

"The Lincoln Town Car is a cornerstone of the Lincoln brand," says Jim O'Sullivan, Lincoln Group brand manager. "For years it has defined full-size luxury, and its impressive comfort - inside the car and on the highway - has given it a large base of loyal and enthusiastic owners."

The 2001 Lincoln Town Car delivers the ultimate in comfort and convenience in a full-size package that provides a relaxing driving environment. Town Car is for drivers who value comfort and space above all else, and it delivers with an extremely high level of comfort and convenience features inside, along with a smooth, quiet ride.

Town Car models include the Executive, Signature and Cartier. The Executive L and Cartier L models have a wheelbase six inches longer than the other models, providing exceptional room and comfort.

New for 2001
As with all 2001-model Lincoln vehicles, Town Car has Lincoln Complimentary Maintenance, with no-charge regular maintenance provided for 3 years/36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Horsepower ratings have been increased by 20 horsepower on all models. Also, power adjustable accelerator and brake pedals are now standard.

A Relaxing Environment
With its spacious interior and extremely high level of personal amenities, the 2001 Lincoln Town Car surrounds the driver and passenger with an aura of luxury. The full leather seating surfaces are extremely comfortable, adjusted by an eight-way power driver and passenger seats with power lumbar. The memory functions provide an exceptional level of personalization. The driver can personalize seat, mirror and power adjustable pedal settings. The available easy entry/exit driver's seat (Signature and Cartier Series) moves the seat to the end of the seat track to provide more room to enter and exit. When the key is reinserted, the seat returns to original memory position.

New power adjustable accelerator and brake pedals allow more customer control over their driving position. They are especially helpful for smaller-statured drivers.

With 112.7 cu. ft. of passenger space (120.5 cu. ft. on L Series), Town Car has plenty of room to relax. The Electronic Automatic Temperature Control maintains the desired interior temperature and fan speed while the high-capacity air conditioning condenser quickly cools the spacious Town Car cabin.

Trunk-mounted air extractors create even more climate comfort inside Town Car. Heater and air conditioning performance is enhanced because the hot or cold cabin air can escape faster through one-way flaps located near the bumper that exhaust interior air.

Town Car's interior amenities include plush 18-oz. carpet, stylish wood appliqués, chrome-finished door locks, solar-tinted windows and no-dim daytime dashlights delivering optimum instrument panel visibility. A wood-trimmed steering wheel is standard on Signature and Cartier series.

A Smooth, Quiet Ride
The comfort of the 2001 Town Car also is apparent on the highway. Its rear-wheel drive provides excellent road feel and a luxurious ride. The Watt's linkage rear suspension improves straight-ahead tracking and side-to-side stability while improving anti-squat/anti-lift performance during acceleration and braking.

Lincoln Town Car is designed for peace and quiet, with triple-sealed doors that form an effective barrier against wind and outside noise. The side window glass is 4.7mm thick, creating a firm seal between the cabin and outside elements.

Town Car's 4.6L SOHC 16V V-8 engine produces 220 horsepower at 4750 rpm and 265 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm for the Executive and Signature series. Dual exhaust on the Signature Touring Sedan and Cartier series helps boost horsepower to 235 at 4750 rpm. All horsepower ratings have increased by 20 over last year.

Safety and Security
The 2001 Town Car provides safety and security to go with its comfortable atmosphere. Driver and front passenger air bags are standard, as are driver and front passenger side-impact head/chest air bags. The side-impact air bags are deployed in the event of a serious side-impact collision. Because they are attached directly to the seat, they offer optimal protection no matter what position the seat is in.

Two significant standard features on Town Car help avoid accidents. The four-wheel Antilock Braking System (ABS) provides added control in hard braking situations. All-Speed Traction Control detects when one or more rear wheels begin to spin during acceleration and then corrects automatically, helping to maintain stability and steering control on slippery surfaces.

Town Car's SmartLock™ anti-lockout system helps prevent a customer from locking their keys in the vehicle. The power door locks will not operate if the key is in the ignition and the driver's door is open.

Town Car's SecuriLock™ passive anti-theft system uses an electronically coded ignition key with 72 quadrillion possible codes. Only the key with the correctly assigned code can start the vehicle, reducing the chances of theft.

Lincoln Town Car is manufactured in Wixom, Mich.
